Command line macro expansion in linux arguments

Does console oop do the $ expansion?
Sure, as an option.

But Default assumes, more and more, that snippets have front end symbol tables and maintain their own macro definitions, like xchars.  Since console loop is snippet based (everything loadable in console address space), then by default argument macros are off.

Anyway, reading about some of the new shell capability, what is standard what is not, like fish, a good example. Most of the console loop standards are dictated by whatever makes snippets easier to generate, snippets are the market.
