But I finally mastered it well enough. Evidently X112 gives you a string, and a character version and a scan code version but the character version i sort of made up and you have to rely on the string version, snd converting from one table to another will require connecting to an x sever for no apparent reason. ven then it is not to be trusted. We need the kbdcommon and hopeuflly it can deal with keyboard without the interference of x11, maybe have a message loop based on io events only, skip the x11 crap entirely. I am glad I never did this for a career, I pity the x11 developers.
