A bridge too far

Coronavirus talks collapse as negotiators fail to reach deal

The failure was Nancy piling on to get a pension bailout. If Nancy wants to bail the unions then that needs to be a separate legislation.

Paul wold have us believe that this was about unemployment checks. It was more than that, it was one trillion and almost four trillion. It was piling on, especially by the unions, and we saw a lot of that in the last crash. But it is election time and Krugman is not a fan of electing chihuahuas to the White House.

In a deeper sense, this was the California Franciscan regime clashing with a semi-republic Swamp, they do not mix. But, at election time we allow priorism. The Californians want to impose Franciscan rule onto the Swamp, an almost impossibility.

If Paul's priors are the unemployment checks, then my priors are pay off the small states. It is cheap relative to the nearly four trillion. But it buys intelligence among the small state governors with IQs above room temperature.  That removes a big congestion point, a short term and long term process with multiplier greater than one. It directly smooths the republic fault line built into the Law.
