Goes back to Old German as near as I could read the fine print.
Spanish, from Latin, is sentar, and I siento and siente.
Now, the second path went through Latin, and to Old Germans it would sound like Pig Latin, they repositioned the tense change. The Old German would laugh but get it. The speaker is just using the formal dictionary, as if to express the definition, not the word, using formal Latin rules. IE people would assume this is just a dictionary system. As if a speaker stopped, explained a word and the way it is being used, then went on.
