Trump is going to sanction Iraq?
This dovetails with Trump’s statement to reporters last night:On Iraq, Trump said the U.S. wouldn’t leave Iraq without being paid for its military investments there over the years — then said if the troops do have to withdraw, he would hit Baghdad with economic penalties.“We will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before ever. It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame,” he said. “If there’s any hostility, that they do anything we think is inappropriate, we are going to put sanctions on Iraq, very big sanctions on Iraq.”He added: “We’re not leaving until they pay us back for it.”First, Iraq is not really a country. The Kurds control the North. Second, Iraq produces about 6 mbd, and cutting off that supply would throw the oil markets in turmoil, crash the dollar and make the USA almost completely a oil producer with sky high gas prices. Trump cannot pull any more of these sanctions before the election. Trump is trapped, and besides, the Trump intent is to exit anyway, this whole mess started with Trump concession to the Turks.
Finally what dumbshit Redstaters do not understand is that we have about 8 thousand troops over there and the Iranians have abut 30 thousand militia in Iraq. Where is Trump putting his troops? They be hiding in Saudi Arabia. US troops are not going to drone country, they will be pestered incessantly with drone bombs.
