That level is just beyond Dick and Jane in writing but up into high school for reading, I think this is typical.
So I set an isolated scene and try to write it up in spanish. Like cooking, I want to have yo,me and them cooking, boiling, frying, cuting, chopping and baking in our pots and pans and cutting boards and counters. It is crowded, some do it yesterday, to delay until tomorrow or get to work now..
In a recipe or story I can gt that from context, I have seen all this in reading. But for the life of me, I cannot conjure the key words up until put it all on the screen of my own composition. Ten I read my stories out loud.
On line dictionaries are fair game for irregular verb conjugation. I use google translator, trying to avoid its artistic endeavors and dealing with some missing tenses. Soon I have constructed my own advanced story abou Dick, Jane and their friends in the kitchen
My story goes into a flash card, it is usually short and somewhat nonsensical. But when I need to be spanish in the kitchen I can just re-read my flash card. Each card will take me to the kitchen or yard or walking he dog, going to the store; my normal life. I can fill in all the details in spanish.
