Once the bat blood is extracted, it goes into a safe system for processing, the researcher would have caught the disease via a regular animal to human interaction when extracting the blood. That, thus makes it the same category of problem, work related safety rules need upgrading in China.
Did this happen? Who knows, bats are everywhere over there and so are wet meat markets. Time will tell but from now on China is going to be much more careful with wild and live animals.
