Kurds, our new best friend, and screw Turkey

In Washington and other Western capitals
the territorial defeat of isis, which for years was considered the greatest threat to global security, will almost certainly be studied as a model for future counterterrorism operations. “The S.D.F. is the best unconventional partner force we’ve ever had, anywhere,” Brett McGurk, the former lead coördinator of the campaign against isis, who is now a fellow at Stanford, told me. “The S.D.F. in effect conquered one-third of Syria, once the heart of the isis caliphate, with very low costs for the United States.” Mazloum, who is on Turkey’s most-wanted list, evolved into one of the most important U.S. allies in the Middle East.

Dump Turkey is the new policy. Turkey is the last of the failed Ottoman empire.

I don't completely trust the Kurds as they helped massacre Armenians. But I guess we all have our genocides.. Israel likes the Kurds, the Kurds are libertarian, at the moment. We have had US troops hanging with Kurds since Bubba Clinton, a continuous alliance. So why mess around with Turks at all? Let Russia have the Turks.

What about Syria and the Allrighties? I think Trump gave Israel Golan because Syria needed the Kurds, and now wants them crushed.  So, Bashar and the Allrighties played this wrong. They should have recognized a Kurdish partial autonomy, a reward for saving Syria.

I do not see the US Military giving up their Kurdish alliance for the Turks.
