It has already started

France launches contest to design new spire...

There are two outcomes.
1) The Spire of separable, religious identities, all inclusive.
2) A modern point with pure neutrality.

This is not about remaking Notre Dame, it never was. Notre Dame has always been about one or more French identities doing some architecture. Nothing has changed, in fact the process seems distinctly French.

I would select the spire of perfect neutrality, the pure essence of the catholic.

The word catholic (with lowercase c; derived via Late Latin catholicus, from the Greek adjective καθολικός (katholikos), meaning "universal")[1][2] comes from the Greek phrase καθόλου (katholou), meaning "on the whole", "according to the whole" or "in general", and is a combination of the Greek words κατά meaning "about" and ὅλος meaning "whole".[3][4]

So a Spire of perfect wholeness is a sharp point, identifying an axis or moral wholesness that all of us can measure. We be Hologram Man, and abstract rock thrower.
